Research

Who gets to be seen — and under what conditions?

Research on media, gender, political culture, protest, memory and regimes of visibility in Eastern Europe.

Current research

From socialist visibility to algorithmic visibility.

How do institutions, television, platforms and political narratives make women’s bodies legible — and governable?

This research compares historical and contemporary visual regimes, with particular attention to Romania and neighboring Eastern European contexts. It connects archival media analysis with platform culture, feminist theory and the politics of work, reproduction and intimacy.

Theme 01

Gendered visibility

Representation, discipline and the cultural production of normative womanhood across broadcast and platform media.

Theme 02

Protest & memory

Political participation, collective memory and changing repertoires of public dissent in post-socialist Romania.

Theme 03
